A Lineage 2 style browser game you can open in a tab

Aden Chronicles is a free browser-based MMORPG inspired by Lineage 2. It runs entirely inside your web browser — there is no client to download, no patcher to sit through and no forty gigabytes on your drive. Open the page, make a character, and you are fighting your first monster outside Talking Island within a minute. If you have been looking for a Lineage 2 browser game online that does not ask for an installer first, this is it.

It was built for people who remember that era of MMORPG design and do not want to reinstall a sixty-gigabyte client to feel it again: a slow, heavy world of clans, castles and long nights of hunting, rebuilt to load in seconds.

What you can do

Real-time combat

Combat happens live, not in turns. You pick a target, your skills come off cooldown while you fight, and positioning matters — a mage caught in melee dies quickly. Every class has its own skill tree, its own cooldowns and its own rules about what it may wear and wield.

Open-world PvP

Players can attack each other almost anywhere outside the safe zones of towns. Killing someone who did not fight back earns karma, and a player killer drops gear when they die. Clans declare war on each other and those kills are counted.

Raid bosses and dungeons

Named raid bosses sit at the end of hunting grounds on their own respawn timers, and grand bosses like Valakas and Antharas are server-wide events. Instanced dungeons are private to your party — sealed floors with a guardian at the bottom.

Crafting

Dwarven Warsmiths gather ore, learn recipes and forge weapons and armour that nobody can buy from a shopkeeper. What they make is sold to other players through private stores, which is where most of the good gear in the world comes from.

Enchanting

Every weapon and every piece of armour can be enchanted upward with scrolls, from NG grade through D, C, B, A and S. Each attempt raises the stats and lowers the odds; push far enough and the blade burns. High enchant levels glow, and everyone can see them.

Auto farming

Auto-farm picks the nearest monster, closes in, uses the skills on your hotbar as they become ready, drinks potions when your health runs low and stops when you run out. It never attacks other players and never runs inside a town.

Clans, castle sieges and the Olympiad

Found a clan at level ten, recruit, level the clan and buy clan skills that every member keeps. Castles are taken by siege and the clan that holds one collects tax from every trade in its lands — until a stronger clan comes for it. The Olympiad runs its own ladder, and its winners carry Hero status.

Why it lives in a browser

Every MMORPG asks for an installer, an account portal, a launcher and an evening of patching before you see a single monster. That is a long way to walk on a maybe. This one is a web page: the whole game is a few megabytes, your character lives on the server, and you can log in from any computer and carry on where you stopped.

That is the whole idea behind a browser MMORPG: the barrier between wanting to play and playing should be one click. It works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on Windows, macOS and Linux. Nothing is installed and nothing is left behind. A desktop or laptop screen is recommended — the skill bars, side windows and world map want the width.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Lineage 2 browser game I can play without downloading anything?

Yes. Aden Chronicles is a free browser-based MMORPG inspired by Lineage 2 that runs entirely in a web browser. There is no client, no patcher and no installer.

Is it free to play?

Completely. No purchase, no subscription and no pay-to-win shop. Donations are optional and only cover the server.

Which classes can I play?

Five: Human Knight, Human Mage, Elven Archer, Dark Elf Assassin and Dwarf Warsmith. Each branches into a second profession at level 20 and a third at level 40, and can be awakened at level 80 — twenty-five class paths in all.

How long does it take to reach maximum level?

Level 80 is the cap. The first twenty levels take under an hour and the climb steepens from there; reaching 80 is a matter of weeks of regular play rather than one sitting.

Is my character saved?

Yes, on the server. Log in from any computer and carry on. Up to three characters per account.

Can I play on my phone?

It will load, but it is built for a desktop or laptop browser — the interface needs the width.

Is this official Lineage 2?

No. Aden Chronicles is an independent fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by NCSOFT. Lineage is a trademark of its respective owner. It is inspired by that era of MMORPG design; it shares no code or assets with the original.

Start playing

Making a character takes about twenty seconds and costs nothing. If you want to read what other players are doing first, the forum is open to everyone.
